Impinj Opens New Engineering Facility in Seattle

Impinj announced the opening of its newest engineering and testing facility, ensuring the company continues to deliver innovative, quality RAIN RFID products.

We are thrilled to share that Impinj has expanded its Seattle footprint with the opening of a new engineering and testing facility. The 29,000 square-foot building in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood is a single-story, single-occupancy space that houses research and development, testing, quality assurance, shipping, and office facilities.

Culminating months of design, planning, and build-out, the custom facility allows us to expand our production and testing environments and gives us room to grow. The facility will primarily house silicon engineering and operations staff, while leadership and other teams remain at our South Lake Union headquarters in Seattle.

Designed to support high-volume RAIN RFID chip production and testing, the facility features some of the most advanced technology and machinery available in the industry. This equipment allows our engineering team to rigorously test RAIN RFID chips and tags as we innovate and deliver industry-leading RAIN products to our valued partners and customers.

The Beacon Hill location also provides space to create mock retail and logistics environments to model the real-world challenges our enterprise customers face as we develop solutions that meet their needs.

Beacon Hill is a neighborhood with a rich history, and the Impinj facility’s three conference rooms are named after influential women who’ve contributed to its history and development. These include Kikisoblu, the oldest daughter of Chief Seattle; Irene Peden, the first female faculty member of the University of Washington College of Engineering; and Thelma Dewitty, the first black teacher hired by Seattle Public Schools in 1947.

Impinj maintains offices in the United States, Brazil, and China with employees in seven countries. We’re thrilled to be a part of ongoing development in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, and we look forward to being good neighbors and active community members for years to come.
